Matalco is proud to announce the completion of their newest facility located in Franklin, Kentucky.
Founded in 2005 and operating as a subsidiary of Giampaolo Group Inc., Matalco is one of the largest high-grade secondary aluminum billet and slab producers in North America. Completed December 5th, 2022, this brand new $65 million investment in Franklin, Kentucky successfully strengthens the geographical footprint of Matalco and brings the total number of operations throughout Canada and the United States to seven. Together, these plants have the combined capacity to produce more than 1.9 billion pounds of low carbon aluminum annually.

The 230,000 square-foot Franklin, Kentucky site is uniquely positioned to better service the aluminum industry. There is a thriving aluminum sector in the Kentucky, Tennessee, and Alabama corridor and Matalco is looking forward to contributing to the local value chain and strengthening Kentucky’s local economy by introducing more than 70 high-quality permanent full-time positions. This development has a current annual capacity of 135,000 tonnes of aluminum ingot slab which services various aluminum sheet application. An additional furnace has been provisioned, and once installed, the Franklin facility’s annual capacity will increase to 390 million pounds.
The completion of this facility represents Matalco’s unwavering commitment to its strategic growth plan, to better service its customers and expand market share.
